Digital Intrusion By RedTeam Hackers Academy

RedTeam Hackers Academy conducted a two-part workshop on cybersecurity, providing students with valuable insights into ethical hacking and defense strategies. The event began with an online pre-workshop session on 18 November which  focused on installation and setup to prepare participants for the main event. This was followed by a physical workshop on Wednesday, 20 November. The workshop aimed to enhance students' practical skills in ethical hacking, deepen their understanding of modern cybersecurity challenges, and equip them with knowledge critical for careers in the field.

Treasure Code Hunt

The Treasure Code Hunt on 6th November (Wednesday) from 9 AM to 2 PM at the vending machine area is an exciting campus-wide challenge. Teams of 1-3 people will search for clues scattered across the campus, each containing a piece of (pseudo)code. Once all clues are collected, participants must assemble the code, fix logical errors, and submit a final code file. The event promises a fun mix of problem-solving and teamwork, with prizes to be announced.

The first workshop of the "Machine Learning with Python" series covered the basics of supervised learning, focusing on regression and classification problems. Participants explored data preprocessing, model training, and evaluation techniques using Python libraries like scikit-learn. A hands-on session guided them through building a simple supervised ML model, followed by a practical challenge for independent practice.

Breast Cancer Awareness

A Breast Cancer Awareness event was held, featuring a quiz for students. The participants engaged in answering questions related to breast cancer, helping raise awareness and promote education on the topic. During the Breast Cancer Awareness event, students who answered 6 or more questions from the questionnaire were rewarded with chocolates and goodies as a token of appreciation for their participation.

The Orientation session, organized by ACM-W, was an introduction event for new and existing members, offering an overview of the club’s mission, activities, and goals. The session also provided a sneak peek into the exciting events planned for the upcoming year. During the event, the council members were formally introduced, giving attendees an opportunity to meet the team and understand their roles. After the event, all attendees were treated to free pizza.

Icebreakers

Icebreakers was an engaging icebreaker event for freshers, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere. Students participated in fun activities while learning about the club's mission and initiatives. The event provided an excellent platform for new students to connect with peers, explore opportunities, and gain insight into the club's focus on empowering women in computing. Freshers were also given the chance to register as members.

Spin the Bottle Roulette

ACM-W) organized ‘Spin the bottle- Roulette’ a fun challenge on 6th March for women's day. The stall was near the vending machine area, from 11am till 3pm. In this challenge, the participants were supposed to spin the bottle on the chart kept on the table, wherever the bottle’s neck pointed would have to answer 3 questions or do tasks related to the occasion. The winners of this game had a chance to get polaroid reels with their picture for 3 dhs.

DigiQuest

ACM-W organized an exciting event named "Digiquest," where students were challenged to utilize cryptarithmetic puzzles as clues to complete a crossword. The objective was clear that the participant who accurately solved the crossword in the shortest time emerged victorious. A cash prize of 25 AED added to the thrill of the competition. With a turnout of over 15 participants, Mohammed Firas emerged as the winner of this engaging event, showcasing both speed and accuracy in problem-solving.

The Relay Game featured two thrilling stages: the Chopstick Challenge and GuessGPT. Participants showcased agility and mental acuity as they sorted buttons with chopsticks and engaged in a cerebral duel with ChatGPT. Amid intense competition, the victorious participant, awarded AED 25, demonstrated exceptional prowess across both challenges, emphasizing precision, teamwork, ingenuity, and communication skills under pressure.

The ACM-W Manifest QR Challenge invites participants on a journey inspired by the TV show "Manifest." Dr. Saanvi has discovered a way to connect with callings using QR codes. In this three-way collaboration, ACM-W invited students from SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Chennai) and BPDC to network with each other. The event was led by women-only teams from ACM-W and WIE. Students from BPDC and SRM got an opportunity to interact with students from their respective campuses.

JuMP  Phase 1

ACM-W launched its Junior Mentorship programme with 5 mentors, 6 mentees and 2 tracks (web and app development). In a span of 4 weeks, mentors collaborated with the ACM-W team to organize hands-on workshops in the form of crash courses to tutor mentees in the track of their choice.

 

Mentors first prepared a study plan along with assignments for the mentees. The assignments were related to the workshops hosted each week and were to be submitted by the mentees on the software collaboration platform Github.

Deep Dive into Power BI

ACM-W, in collaboration with Microsoft Tech Club MTC, conducted a hands-on workshop on the use of Azure for Text analysis, conversational chatbots , DAX and more.

The workshop entailed analyzing data sheets of a fictional travel agency to introduce the basics of Power BI. Certificates were awarded to participants on completion of the session.

Slide to Win at Enginuity, part of BITS TechFest, challenged university students with a Python-designed slider puzzle. The event, which tracked solving times, tested problem-solving and quick thinking. Shreya Shetti emerged as the winner.
